Venere in Teatro 2025

The Contemporary Dance Festival at Forte Marghera
From September 1 to 21, 2025, Forte Marghera becomes an exceptional stage for the fifth edition of Venere in Teatro, the festival dedicated to contemporary dance and experimental performance. Set within the green spaces of this historic park in mainland Venice, the event is part of the city’s cultural calendar “Le Città in Festa”, curated by APS Live Arts Cultures in collaboration with Perypezye Urbane.
A Festival About Transformation
This year’s theme draws inspiration from the idea of the “mid-season” – a symbolic passage, a shift, a metamorphosis. Transformation—whether physical, emotional, or social—is the thread that connects all the performances, installations, and workshops on the schedule. In a time of great changes for the performing arts scene, the festival continues to support emerging creativity and experimental research.
Three Weeks of Events, Performances, and Guests from Across Europe
Nine evenings open to the public, featuring 19 companies and artists, including premieres, participatory projects, and international guests.
- It all starts on September 1 with a community workshop led by Chiara Frigo, which will culminate in a public performance on Thursday, September 4 at 6:30 PM.
- The first weekend includes a Kafka-inspired piece by C&C Company, two national premieres (Pink Motel and Kaukokaipuu), and a special performance by Poland’s Krakow Dance Theater.
- On September 7, the section dedicated to long-form performances begins, with Daniele Ninarello performing in conjunction with the exhibition “Artefici del nostro tempo”.
The Following Weeks
- On September 11, CollettivO CineticO presents AGE, a work created with a group of teenagers who are now adults.
- On September 13–14, rising talents, choreographers, and international performers take the stage, including Camille Poudret, Adél Juhàsz, Salômé Guillemin, and Finland’s Recover Laboratory.
- The final day features Chiara Frigo with Matrioska and emerging artist Francesca Santamaria, on Sunday, September 21.
